Mr. William Avertt Griffin of Westville, FL passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was 74. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Poplar Head United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Mashburn officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

Mr. Griffin was born in Holmes County, FL on September 29, 1937 to the late G.W. Griffin and Lula Mae McGowan Griffin. He worked for many years as an aircraft mechanic at Ft. Rucker. He served in Army National Guard and was a Mason for many, many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed but not forgotten. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Drue Griffin and Esther Mae Hand; three brothers, George W. Griffin, Jr., Rex Griffin, James W. Griffin; and grandson, Clinton Wade Carroll.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Griffin of Westville; two daughters, Cindy Steverson (Brian) of Fayetteville, NC and Stephanie Donovan (Patrick) of Spring Lake, NC; two sons, Walt Griffin of Crestview, FL and Bryan Griffin of Westville, FL; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brother, I.D. Griffin (Lila Jean) of Fairhope, two sisters, Mary Bell Nadeau of Geneva; Betty Sue Ellis (Alf) of Samson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
