Sherry A (Whittington) Mims

Sherry Avilene Mims of Geneva passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, after an extended illness.  She was 78. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Pondtown Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Grantham, officiating, and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing.

Sherry was born in Hartford, Alabama on December 13, 1946, to the late Ben Cornelius Whittington and Hazel Louise Ross Whittington Herring.  Prior to her retirement, she worked in human resources at Reliable Metal Products for many years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Mims; and two brothers, Benny Lindsay Whittington and Carey Herring.

She is survived by her son, Brant Mims (Allison) of Meridianville, AL; two brothers, Robert Herring and Jon Herring; and two sisters, Teresa Louise Mathis (Bob), and Mary Ortagus.
