Ruth Annabelle Kirby of Geneva passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Wiregrass Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Kirby was born in French, New Mexico on July 17, 1932, to the late Kit Kirby and Viola Dingus Kirby. Prior to her retirement, she taught school for many years. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gene Kirby Nelson and Benjamin Nelson; daughter, Gaylea McDonough Horner; and all four of her siblings, Lloyd Kirby, Leon Kirby, Faye Rains, and Myra Murray.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Green of Hartford; six grandchildren, Brian Wade Green (Lori), Jamie Whitaker (Lawrence), Derrick Wayne Green (Cynthia), all of Geneva, Kaycee Tidyman (DJ) of Wyoming, Chantelle Horner, and Matthew Horner, Jr. of New York; twelve great-grandchildren, Alison Green Walker, Abigail Green Perryman, Avery Green Taylor (Eli), Cecil Jacob Walton, Rachel Smith, Dawson Smith, Fletcher Green, Brenley Green, Stesha Tityman, Shayden Tidyman, Lean, and Vanessa; and four great-great grandchildren, Easton and Colson Walker, Emmit Taylor, and A’mara Smith.
