Mr. Robert W. Paul of Kinston passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was 93. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Gainey and Rev. James T. Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Paul was born in Geneva County, AL on January 31, 1927, to the late William Adolphus and Mollie Ann Burkett Paul. He was a longtime member of First Freewill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School until he was ninety-one years old. He loved singing the gospel. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his younger years, he enjoyed going fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ondruss Paul, Walter D. Paul, and O.P. Paul; and a sister, Jessie Merleane “Coonie” Newsome.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Sarah Paul; son, Anthony Paul; daughter, Tywanna Hayes (David) all of Kinston; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Janatious Paul (Mary) of Kinston.
