Margaret L. “Peggy” Callaway passed away July 7, 2018. She was 87 years old. Peggy was born August 16, 1930 in Morgan County, Alabama, to Frank & Grace Callaway. She moved to Wiregrass Nursing Home in Geneva in January 1996. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Geneva.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 13 at Geneva First Baptist Church from 5-7 pm with a funeral service at 7. Dr. Edwin Scott, pastor, will officiate. A second visitation will be on July 14 from 3:00 until 4:00 pm at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home, Hartselle, AL with interment at Herring Cemetery. Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva will direct all services.
The family requests no flowers and suggests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 309 S. Commerce Street, Geneva, AL 36340.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel & R.A. Stephenson; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles & Mary Callaway and Frank (1st wife, Winifred; 2nd wife, Robbie) Callaway; her niece, Connie C. Basileo, and her nephew, Charles “George” Callaway, Jr.
She is survived by her nieces, Charlene (Lamar) Vaughn & Nancy (Tommy) Williford of Geneva, plus Diane McPherson & Carolyn (Jim) Blalock, Beverly (Sonny) Jones, Gloria (Danny) Harrill, Cheryl (Wayne) Myers and George’s widow, Brenda Callaway; 24 great nephews & nieces, 16 great-greats and 4 great-great-greats; many friends and caregivers.
We would like to thank the staff of Wiregrass Nursing Home for their 22 years of care. You were her extended family and she loved you.
