Maj (R) Edward Patrick "Pat" Thurlow, Jr. of Chancellor passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 24, 2013 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva. Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn Memorial Park with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Sardis United Methodist Church, PO Box 1, Chancellor, AL 36316.

Mr. Thurlow was born in Newburyport, MA on May 14, 1933 to the late Edward P. Thurlow, Sr. and Delvina LaValley Thurlow. He retired as a Command Pilot in the US Air Force after serving twenty years. He received numerous awards: the highest of which were the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was an educator for the Geneva County School System for seventeen years. Mr. Thurlow was a longtime member of the Sardis United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Thurlow and Michael Thurlow. He was a loving and much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Betty P. Thurlow of Chancellor; three daughters, Patsy Chalker (David), Nancy Vallor (Ray) all of Enterprise, and Kelly Lacouture (Chris) of Merritt Island, FL; seven grandchildren, Scott Chalker (Natasha), Mandy Millsap (Josh), Wade Spivey, Adra Johnson (Mark), Nikki Vallor, Brent Vallor and Skylar Lacouture; and seven great grandchildren.
