Neil Spann Saunders

Neil Spann “Bobby” Saunders of Samson passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. He was 84. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev Danny Branch, officiating. A private burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Saunders was born in Samson, AL on July 14, 1940, to the late Charles L. Saunders and Katherine Spann Saunders.  He attended the Samson First Baptist Church.  Prior to his retirement, he worked at Ft. Rucker as the lead records specialist for more than fifty years.  He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Saunders.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Saunders of Samson; daughter, Amanda Saunders of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Joyce Hamm of Birmingham and Sherry Saunders of Samson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
