Mrs. Merle Mary Weeks of Samson passed away on Oct. 12, 2012. She was 76. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Johnny Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Weeks was born in Geneva County on June 2, 1936 to the late Alvin and Adell Grace. She and her husband worked in poultry production, owning chicken houses before her retirement. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Grace.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Alcus Weeks of Samson; son, James Weeks (Janie) of the Earlytown Community; daughter, Janet Burkett of Samson; three grandchildren, Josh Burkett (Jacquie) of Mobile, Ashley Burkett of Samson and Tyler Weeks of Earlytown; great granddaughter, Emma Burkett of Mobile; three brothers, Alvin Grace, Jr. (Othelene) of the Lowery Community, Bobby Grace of Geneva and Max Grace (Judy) of Kinston; sister, Marjorie Farris of Sellersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
