Mrs. Spano was born on November 28, 1958, to the late John and Norma Thibodeaux Boudreaux.  She served in the US Navy and later worked as a secretary for various accounting firms. Mel loved people, having donated her time assisting with various hospice organizations.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Spano of Geneva; two stepsons, Paul Spano (Charley) of Greenville, and Steven Spano (Michelle), both of Greenville, TN; one daughter, Michelle Howard (Ryan) of Visalia, CA, and stepdaughter, Angela Spano Underwood (Will) of Foley, AL; seven grandchildren; three sisters: Julie Hebert (Tex), Jane Melancon (David), and Tesa Lanza (Mike); one brother, Johnny Boudreaux (Janel); and many nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved. Mel dearly loved her Cajun Heritage and her birthplace, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Although she lived a major part of her life in other states, she remained in contact with friends and family on a regular basis.  She leaves us with a flood of wonderful memories.  She knew no strangers.
