Mary Ellen (Jeffcoat) Simmons

Mary Ellen Simmons of the Hacoda Community passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. She was 94. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Hacoda Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Dyess and Rev. Norman Simmons, officiating. Burial will follow at Corner Creek Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hacoda Baptist Church Building Fund, 4196 State Highway 54, Kinston, AL 36453, or Camp Victory, 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477, or to Corner Creek Cemetery Fund, 4357 County Road 10, Samson, AL 36477.

Mrs. Simmons was born in Coffee County, AL on September 9, 1930, to the late Olen Dewey Jeffcoat and Alma Lee Kelley Jeffcoat.  She was a longtime member of Hacoda Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Samson Garden Club and the Eastern Star for many years.  Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Horace Greely Simmons, Jr.; brother, Gerald Jeffcoat; and a sister, Linda Lucas.

She is survived by two sons, David Simmons (Nodie) of Samson, and Andy Simmons (Sharlene) of the Hacoda Community; daughter, Nedra Patchett of Dothan; four grandchildren, Ashley Simmons of Geneva, Kate Simmons of Samson, Shaun Patchett (Caitlyn) of Rehobeth and Kristi McHenry (Casey); three great grandchildren, Brody Thomas McHenry, Gavin David McHenry, all of Panama City, FL, Elliot Simmons of Geneva; brother, Dewey Jeffcoat of Birmingham; and a sister, Peggy Stack (John) of Niceville, FL.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to two exceptional caregivers, Cathi Harris and Jean Mock.  They also offer thanks to the staff at Wiregrass Medical Center for their kind care and compassion.
