Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Nichols

Mary Elizabeth Nichols of Coffee Springs passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 84.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Enterprise, with Rev. Chris Adams, officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing.

Mrs. Nichols was born in Geneva, AL on July 22, 1940, to the late George and Helen Smith.  Prior to her retirement, she worked at Phillips Van Heusen and later in the cafeteria at Coffee Springs High School.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Nichols; two sons, Clayton Nichols and Edward Nichols; and great-granddaughter, Celeste Ward.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Angie Wade (Ian) of Robertsdale and Evan Nichols (Shannon) of Coffee Springs; two great grandchildren, Renin Nichols and Myranda Johnson (Michael); four great-great grandchildren, Auroa Wade, Mea Johnson, Mya Johnson, and Lyra Lightsey; and special friends, Sharon Sconyers of Dothan and Wendell Sconyers Coffee Springs.  The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Dayspring Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
