Mr. Lawson "Ace" Motley, age 79, of Bonifay, FL, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at Wiregrass Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Moore officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Ida Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family received friends in the funeral home on Friday, March 21, 2003 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Lawson was born April 30, 1922 in Holmes Co. Florida to the late Henry J. and Lillie Emma Scott Motley. He attended Auburn University. He was an Engineer with James Rivers Paper Mills prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sondra Ree Ann Lindsey (April 13, 2002).
Survivors included his wife, Joyce Motley of Bonifay; one son, Lawson Lee Motley of Foley, AL; two daughters, Touida Lucus and Anna Daughtry of Toxie, AL; two step-sons, Marlon Lucus of Toxie, AL and Harland Lucus of Grafton, VA; two step-daughters, Patsy King of Buna, TX and Peggy Motley of Irvine, CA; two brothers, Wade Motley of Callaway, FL and Cecil Motley of Westville, FL; one sister, Annie Bell Shelling of Westville, FL; eighteen grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
