Karen (Smith) Anderson

Thana Karen Anderson of Geneva passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020.  She was 88.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Nathan Carroll, officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Geneva First Baptist Church, PO Box 579, Geneva, AL 36340.

Mrs. Anderson was born in Mount Hermon, LA on February 5, 1932, to the late Burlon and Nellie Pope Smith.  Prior to her retirement, she worked with her late husband in the plastic pipe business in Slocomb and Samson, AL for nearly fifty years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Milton Anderson; and nine of her siblings.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory H. Anderson (Blakely) and Robert C. Anderson (Joyce) all of Geneva; two daughters, Rebecca Simmons of Columbus, Ga. and Jo Karen Green of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Matthew Robert and Madison Lee Anderson, Grayson Howard Anderson, Finley Fox Anderson, Lindsay Shannon Potts, Eric Tyler Simmons and Whitney Elizabeth Simmons; great-grandson, Wyatt Andrew Potts; sister, Burnell Rovira of Metairie, LA; and two very special friends, Betty Gamble and Aretha McCray.
