John William Ivey Wood of Zephyrhills, FL and formerly of Geneva, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019. He was 91. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Edwin E. Scott and Rev. Steve Skidmore, officiating. Mr. Gary Grantham will deliver the eulogy. The family will receive friends before the service on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Frisco City, AL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Wood was born in Geneva County, AL on September 19, 1927, to the late Archie Richard Wood and Annie Hughes Wood. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He also retired as a Staff Sergeant in the Alabama National Guard. He was employed by Phillips Van Heusen in Geneva for twenty-two years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Wood; his first wife and mother of his children, Lois Wood Wheeler; daughter, Cindy Wood; and sister, Bessie Smith.
He is survived by his son, Wayne Wood (Susan) of Geneva; three daughters, Phyllis Sellers (Paul) of Marianna, FL, Angela Bailey (Roger) of Enterprise, and Robin Stuckey (Sean) of Zephyrhills, FL; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gene Wood (Joyce), Jack Wood, and Alfred Wood (Beth); two sisters, Addie Paul, and Annie Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
