JoAnn (Powell) Hollinghead

JoAnn Hollinghead of Opp entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 85. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Earlytown Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Harrison, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Hollighead was born in the Piney Grove Community on November 12, 1939, to the late Clifford and Mary Bowdoin Powell.  She was a faithful member of the Highway 84 Church of Christ, Opp, AL.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all thirteen of her siblings; and a step-son, Mike Hollinghead.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Hollinghead of Opp; a son, Jeff Burkett of Joplin, MO; daughter, Joy Reeves (Obie) of the Earlytown Community; two grandsons, Ethan Burkett and Grant Burkett of Joplin, MO; step-children and step-grandchildren, Greg Hollinghead and family, Stephen Hollinghead (Kim) and family, Lynn Hollinghead Shiver and family, and Troy Hollinghead (Tashawna) and family.  She is now at peace in the arms of her savior.
