Jean Fleming of Kinston passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 24, 2026. She was 94. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Mr. Jerry Crews, officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing.
Mrs. Fleming was born in Vernon, FL on October 14, 1931, to the late Christopher Columbus and Etta Mae Whaley. She loved to travel. Mrs. Fleming loved children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruhane Fleming; second husband, James Weeks; two sons, Steve Fleming and Stan Fleming; two brothers, Hubert Whaley and Buford Whaley; and a sister, Gladys Crews.
She is survived by three grandsons, Dwight Fleming of Auburndale, FL, Dwayne Fleming of Winter Haven, FL, and Daniel Fleming of Auburndale, FL; four great grandchildren; six nieces and nephews, Jerry Crews (Tanya) of Samson, Tijuanne Horne (Bobby) of Texas, Sheilah Nolin (William) of Dothan, Keith Whaley (Wanda) of Lakeland, FL, Chris Whaley (Verna) of Orlando, FL, Lori Cook (Barry) of Winter Haven, FL; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
