Mr. James “Jim” S. Milton of Geneva passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was 85. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Maple Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Ward and Rev. Jonathan West, officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Milton’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Maple Avenue Baptist Church, 1009 W. Maple Ave. Geneva, AL 36340.
Mr. Milton was born in Geneva County on March 26, 1934, to the late Reverend C.A. and Mattie Lou Adams Milton. He was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church. He served as a paratrooper in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from the US Coast Guard Reserves. He was also a licensed electrician, working locally and across the US, including Hayes International and Kellogg-Brown & Root. He led a prison ministry in the Geneva County Jail for more than thirty years. Mr. Milton was certified as an Addiction Recovery Instructor. He was also active with the Geneva Senior Citizens Center. The center of his life was his family and faithful service to his Lord Jesus Christ. In his pastime, Mr. Milton loved to go fishing. He was preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Milton.
He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Rosemarie Milton; son, Derek Milton (Marcy), all of Geneva; daughter, Jeannie Kaul (Chris) of Montgomery; sons, William D. Brown, Jr. (Sue), Robert W. Brown, both of Panama City Beach, FL, and Richard Brown of Pace, FL; eleven grandchildren, Gage Milton, Jarrod Milton, Jacob Ritchie, Jaymes Ritchie, Jonah Ritchie, Morgann Kaul, Jalynd Kaul, Tommy Brown, Brittany Adams, Garrett Brown, and Seth Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Jon Derek Milton, and John Adams.
