Huey P Long

Mr. Huey P. Long of Samson passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026. He was 86. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Long was born in Opp, AL on July 31, 1939, to the late William Burvie “Ox” Long and Sallie Jane Harrison Long.  Prior to his retirement, he was a cattleman for many years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Hitchcock Long; son, Marc Long; siblings, Winnie Louise Smith, Lois Long, Ruby Nadine Hall, Charles William “Buddy” Long, Dorothy Nell Denham, Louie Eugene “Gene” Long, Henry Cecil Long, Patricia Ann Odom, and Randall Lamar Long.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy Long Norman (Keven) of Samson; Clayton Ray Long of Midland City; five grandchildren, Hunter Long, Hanna Long, Tyler Long, Isiah Long, and Anthony Long; and a sister, Annie Ruth Collins of Bonifay, FL.
