Corine Wiginton of Samson passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 96. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at New Prospect Baptist Church with Chaplain Jadon Schank and Rev. Elbert Smith, officiating. . Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Wiginton was born in Marion County, AL on February 2, 1928, to the late Ed and Annie Savannah Crow Nixon. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Mrs. Wiginton owned and operated restaurants in the Hamilton, AL and Samson, AL areas for many years. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Wright Bowdin; nine brothers, Orville Nixon, Tom Nixon, Audie Nixon, Freeman Nixon, Oakland Nixon, Austin Nixon, Leonard Nixon, Crawford Nixon, and Edgar Nixon; four sisters, Lois Owens, Eunice Moyers, Mamie Clark, and Olene Rollins; and her husband of sixty-six years, Edwin Wiginton. Today they are celebrating their seventy-fourth anniversary together in heaven. She was the last of her generation.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Wright (Forrest); son, Gary Wiginton (Lisa); four grandchildren, Sandy Morris (Jim), Cristie Stephenson (David), all of Samson, Chad Wiginton (April) of Opp, and Sierra Price (Jack) of Samson; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler Stephenson (Sydney), Brieanna Stephenson, Cassie Lynn Copeland (Colby), Braden Rasnek, Ty Wiginton, and Jameson Price.
