Mrs. Carrie Juanita Hill of Samson passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, February 10, 2013. She was 79. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Donal Walsingham officiating. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Mrs. Hill was born in North Carolina on June 26, 1933 to the late John and Emma Shinn Smith. Mrs. Carrie loved to work outside and especially cut the grass. In addition to her parents, her husband, James William Hill, Sr., daughter, Donna Sue Pridgen; and five brothers and one sister precede her in death.

She is survived by two sons, James William Hill, Jr. (Pam), and James Goodman (Stacy) all of Samson; two daughters, Jennie Ward (Bret) of Samson, and Becky Steele (Billy) of Laurel Hill, FL; nine grandchildren, James William Hill, III., Lance Ward, Emily Ward, Devin Goodman, Danielle Goodman, Chelsea Bryant, Sherri Stewart, Leann White (Jamie), and Michelle Revels (Kenneth); eleven great grandchildren; and her sister, Paige Motley of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.
