Averil J (English) Akridge

Averil J. Akridge nee, English, of Geneva passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021. She was 90. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Tracy Hobbs, officiating.  Burial will follow at East Pittman Baptist Church Cemetery with Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Akridge was born in Headington, Oxford, England on August 18, 1930, to the late Walter and Gladys English. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John T. Akridge, Sr.; and a son, John T. Akridge, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Peter English (Claire) of Kings Lynn, England, Deborah Hilliard (Jerry) of Phenix City, AL, Tony Akridge of Geneva, Shirley Brackin (Bobby) of Geneva, and Sandra Spence (Scott) of Walnut Hill, FL; In addition to her children, Averil had the privilege of raising three of her grandchildren, Amie, Tony, and Kelly Akridge after the death of their mother. also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
