Anna Maria (Franklin) Saunders

Anna Maria Saunders of Samson passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was 78. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Danny Branch, officiating.  A private burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Saunders was born in Opp, Alabama on November 12, 1947, to the late Thomas Harold Franklin, Jr. and Joan Doswell Franklin.  She was a member of Samson First Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly sixty years, Bobby Neal Saunders.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Saunders of Land O Lakes, FL; brother, Thomas A. Franklin (Janie) of Auburn; niece, Lauren Franklin Mullins (Tenil) of Cumming, GA; and numerous other nieces and nephews from the Saunders side of the family.
