Mr. Alphus Wayne Wilkerson of Samson passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019. He was 95. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.
Mr. Wilkerson was born in Samson, AL on June 13, 1924, to the late Edward and Minnie Lee Wilkerson. He served in the US Army during WWII. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Wilkerson worked as a foreman in the fertilizer industry. In his pastime, he loved to go fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-one years, Deborah J. Wilkerson; and all of his siblings. He was the last of his generation.
He is survived by three daughters, Lucretia Reeves (Jim) of Enterprise, Kay Reed of Montgomery and Denise Watford of Samson, son, Alphus Leniel Wilkerson (Rhonda) of Chiefland, FL; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
