Mr. William D. Hewett, Sr. of Bonifay, Florida passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019. He was 92. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating and Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.
Mr. Hewett was born on March 31, 1927, to the late Henry Willis and Macye Davis Hewett. While serving in the Navy during WWII, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After the war, Mr. Hewett attended Florida State University where he later graduated as one of the first men to do so after the University returned to being coeducational institution. After graduation, he started his career in the banking industry. In his retirement, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors plowing his fields and feeding the fish, turtles and deer.
He was preceded death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann, and all six of his siblings.
He is survived by his son, William D. Hewett, Jr.; and granddaughter, Mary Ann Hewett.
