Joseph “Joey” Branson of Geneva, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, after an extended illness.  He was 62.  A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Starke Golf & Country Club.

Joey was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 6, 1954, to the late Jessie and Mary Branson.  He graduated from Bradford High School.  Prior to his illness, he owned and operated American Boat Carriers of Alachua, FL and was a longtime resident of Lake City, Florida.  Joey was a loving devoted father and husband who loved spending time with his family and friends and watching his beloved Florida Gators.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stinson Branson of Geneva, AL; daughter, Justis Branson Smith of Starke, FL; stepson Stephen Hornsby of Geneva, AL; grandson, Carson Smith, of Starke, FL; Brothers and Sisters Mary Gail Branson, Terry Michael Branson, Jackie Branson Bass, Mark L. Branson, and Debbie Branson Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a make a Memorial Donation to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, www.bafound.org, in Joey’s name.
